The Scandinavian car brand Volvo has become just as synonymous with estate cars as Ikea with flatpack furniture and the V90 is the most spacious of their estate cars to date.
The vehicle’s engine options are two diesels, three petrols and a petrol hybrid vehicle. The diesels consist of a 188hp D4 and 232hp D5 with both getting an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engines are called T4, T5 and T6, with 190, 250 and 310hp petrol engines respectively. Finally, the 390hp T8 petrol-electric hybrid boasts great performance and an ability to move under electric power alone.
The interior of the Volvo V90 is as stylish as ever, with wide-ranging electrical adjustment and lumbar support making it easy to sit comfortably. The vehicle is available with a panoramic roof that extends over the rear seats and the front section of the roof tilts for extra ventilation as well as a powered sunshade to help keep the car cool in long summer journeys.
The car has some great technological features - an intuitive touch screen which is so responsive it can even be used when wearing gloves. The digital driver display shows important information directly in front of you, with automatic brightness to prevent eye strain. Optionally, a heads-up display projects information onto the windscreen reducing the need to take your eyes of the road. The Volvo On Call app connects your phone, tablet or wearable device to your car allowing you to control the heating / cooling system, lock and unlock the vehicle and check the car’s location – handy for finding it in a crowded car park!
The Volvo V90 has some great driver assistance technologies to make driving it as safe as possible. Pilot Assist helps keep your V90 at a set speed and distance from vehicles in front, and steering input to maintain good lane discipline in heavy traffic. The 360o camera gives you a birds-eye view of your car and its surroundings when parking or negotiating tight spaces. Park Assistant Pilot uses sensors to gauge parallel or perpendicular spaces as you drive by them and lets you know if one is big enough to fit into – it can then steer the car into a parallel space with the driver operating the accelerator, gears and brakes only. Finally, City Space helps to protect people inside the vehicle by looking out for and reacting to hazards when necessary by automatically applying brakes, as well as offering steering support to help you steer away from danger as effectively and safely as possible.
The Volvo V90 is a great estate car with fantastic features making each drive safe, luxurious and fun.
